Decoupage Artwork

Decoupage is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper onto it often in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and so on.  Commonly an object like a small box or an item of furniture is used.

Each layer is sealed with varnishes (often multiple coats) until the “stuck on” appearance disappears and the result looks like painting or inlay work.

Since these items are made using prints of Kathy’s original artwork, they can be offered at a lower price point than her original paintings. To create these pieces, Kathy had professional photos taken of her paintings.  These photos were printed on high quality card stock and she then decoupaged them on to the boxes shown.

All of the boxes below are hand made of birch wood and stained various colors.  Each one is 7 inches by 11 inches, 3 inches deep and lined in felt.  They are perfect for keeping track of fly tying bits and pieces, the TV remote, pocket change or jewelry.
